Peter Himmelman's new album Unstoppable Forces was always guaranteed to be a featured album and his Racing Off To Nowhere set the scene on this show with Cockburn's Pacing The Cage an obvious companion. Then at Ballycastle Presbyterian on the morning of the show Rev. Eddie Dorrans reminded me that it was Pentecost Sunday and sent my mind racing for Holy Spirit songs. As I introduced the show "a Holy Spirit special but those of you familiar with Rhythm And Soul will know it will as wildly different from what that title suggests as is the Holy Spirit's arrival in our lives, churches and world. We want to meet the Holy Spirit in that thinnest place between the world's mad chaotic predictability and the Spirit's calm and peaceful anarchy..."
There were a few spooky "mysterious ways" moments in the putting together of the show none more obvious than my mate Geoff Bailie texting me as I was about to go on air to tell me he and his wife Ruth were on a long journey home and the show needed to be a good one. I told him it was a Holy Spirit special and his text back asked "Michelle or Victoria?" How could I have forgotten Victoria Williams' appropriately titled Holy Spirit. A quick phone call to my cousin-in-law Tim Flaherty and he found Michelle Shocked's version (the first CD he spotted in the batch!)and had it at the BBC in 8 minutes! Bailie thought I'd been jesting him about not having it with me. No sir, your text sent Belfast mad...
