Even the Fringes are Sacred - Music and art

Artist A-Z

Kevin Doherty - Strange Weather

Former Four Men and A Dog man releases great wee album...

If Leonard Cohen had been born in Bundoran...

Machaire Roghairte beach is a hidden treasure. More beautiful than Bondi, Malibu and Waikiki but without the commercial success or fame. Kevin Docherty is from Donegal too, and like that beach will probably remain unknown. Popularity is no guide to quality. Imagine Leonard Cohen and, Woodstock era, Dylan writing and singing together with The Band and you get the flavour of Strange Weather. Interesting lyrics and meandering tunes making it quite Americana but including wee Irish phrases like shuck (burn or creak) and the seemingly confusing line on "heading south to the north" (some of southern Ireland is further north than Northern Ireland!!!!). I don't no what the other three men and their dog are doing but Docherty is in his own words; - "blowing up the sparks that others left behind".
